About the Event:
Techno India Main Salt Lake Kolkata, in collaboration with the National Digital Library of India (NDLI), successfully organized a One Day Workshop on National Digital Library of India (NDLI) and NDLI Club for University and College Libraries on April 2, 2026. The workshop aimed to strengthen the digital infrastructure of academic libraries, promote the role of NDLI in higher education, and explore the significance of NDLI Clubs in fostering collaborative learning environments in alignment with NEP 2020..
The event was inaugurated by Manashi Roy Chowdhury, Co-Chairperson of Techno India Group, who graced the occasion, while Tapas Chakraborty, Vice Chancellor of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT), attended as the Guest of Honor. In her address, Prof. Roy Chowdhury highlighted the transformative impact of digital platforms like NDLI in democratizing access to quality educational resources and emphasized the need for universities and colleges to adopt such tools for academic and research advancement.
The event beginning with a welcome address by Ms. Dalia Ghoshal, Librarian, Techno India Main Salt Lake and this was followed by an address from the Joint Principal Investigator of NDLI, Dr. B. Sutradhar, and a special address by the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of MAKAUT, Prof. Tapas Chakraborty. Participants from various institutions across Kolkata and Suburban actively joined the session, contributing to a vibrant and engaging atmosphere.
The technical sessions began with Dr. B. Sutradhar presenting “NDLI: Beyond Books, Beyond Boundaries”. He delivered an insightful presentation on the vision, objectives, and capabilities of the National Digital Library of India, highlighting its vast digital repository of academic resources in multiple languages and disciplines. He also spoke about how NDLI plays a critical role in democratizing education, supporting exam preparation, and enhancing lifelong learning for students, educators, and researchers.
The second technical session featured Mr. Suman Panja, Senior Project Engineer of NDLI focusing on NDLI Club: Where Learning Comes Alive. Mr. Panja highlighted how NDLI Clubs serve as vibrant platforms for knowledge sharing and collaborative learning across institutions, aligning with the vision of NEP 2020. The workshop successfully highlighted the importance of NDLI in enhancing digital access, promoting knowledge-sharing, and strengthening academic engagement across the region.
