About the Event:
National Council of Educational Research and Training – NCERT, in collaboration with the National Digital Library of India (NDLI), IIT Kharagpur, successfully conducted a one-day workshop titled “One Day User Awareness Workshop on NDLI and NDLI Club” on September 12, 2025. The workshop aimed to enhance the digital capabilities of library professionals and promote the extensive use of NDLI as a pivotal tool for academic and research excellence. More than 175 librarians from Delhi Administration, NDMC and KVS gathered to explore how NDLI’s vast resources and the NDLI Club movement can strengthen digital learning, nurture reading habits, and advance the goals of NEP 2020 and NCF-SE 2023.
The workshop was inaugurated by Prof. D.P. Saklani, Director, NCERT, who emphasized the importance of digital learning resources and the role of school libraries in the digital age. Prof. P.C. Agarwal, Joint Director, NCERT, graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour, highlighting the significance of NDLI in supporting the academic and professional growth of students and educators.The event commenced with a welcome address and inaugural remarks by Dr. Akash, Librarian, NCERT, setting the tone for the day’s proceedings. The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Pooja Jain, expressing gratitude to all dignitaries, participants, and organizers for their enthusiastic involvement and support.
In his inaugural address, Prof. D.P. Saklani, Director, NCERT, highlighted NDLI’s role in realising the transformative vision of NEP 2020 and urged librarians to act as digital change agents. Prof. P.C. Agarwal, Joint Director, NCERT, stressed the importance of integrating NDLI’s digital resources into classrooms and libraries
The Chief Speaker for the workshop was Dr. B. Sutradhar, Joint Principle Investigator of NDLI and Librarian of Central Library IIT Kharagpur. He delivered an insightful presentation on the vision, objectives, and capabilities of the National Digital Library of India, highlighting its vast digital repository of academic resources in multiple languages and disciplines. He also spoke about how NDLI plays a critical role in democratizing education, supporting exam preparation, and enhancing lifelong learning for students, educators, and researchers.
The programme was steered by Dr. Akash, Head and Librarian, LDD, NCERT, with coordination by Dr. Pooja Jain, Assistant Librarian, NCERT..
