About the Event:
CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Bangalore, organized a three-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) from April 9 to 11, 2025. The final day of the programme, April 11, was primarily dedicated to the National Digital Library of India (NDLI) and its initiatives.
The session featured distinguished speakers Dr. Bablu Sutradhar, Principal Investigator (PI), NDLI and Ms. Manali Choudhury, NDLI Club Outreach Manager,Ms. Choudhury introduced participants to the NDLI Club framework,encouraging institutions to establish these clubs as a means to engage students in curated reading activities, competitions, and academic events. She highlighted the club’s role in fostering a culture of digital resource sharing and collaborative learning.
Dr. Sutradhar provided a deep dive into the NDLI platform, showcasing its extensive digital repository comprising millions of academic resources, including books, journals, articles, and multimedia content. He emphasized the platform’s mission to democratize education and support interdisciplinary research and teaching across India.
The NDLI-focused session sparked thoughtful discussions on integrating open-access digital tools into curriculum design and research practices. Participants praised the initiative as a valuable step toward enhancing digital literacy and academic access. The FDP concluded on a highly engaging note, with enthusiastic feedback from faculty and library professional and participants, affirming CHRIST University’s continued commitment to digital empowerment and educational innovation.
